Hi there, I’m Jo. Thank you for visiting my website. I don’t know what brought you here today, but I imagine there is something that feels like it’s blocking you from moving forwards with life. Be that with regard to friends, family, relationships or work to name but a few possibilities.

As a Person-Centred counsellor, I welcome all of the above, and more. I welcome you and all that you bring, each time we meet. I trust that you know what you need to help yourself, and part of that might be you need me to facilitate a space where you can be you, notice what you notice, to help you on your journey.

I know that every single person is different and needs different support throughout different moments in life. During our counselling sessions I will show you that regardless of what you think, feel and say, I can hold you in an unfaltering regard, with no judgements, a genuine care about you and your experience, and an honest reflection of the person I see in front of me. It is once we are in this place that you can safely process through the thing that needs attention, and we move to where that takes us.

I have studied for three years to obtain a Level 5 Diploma in Person Centred Counselling, I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I follow their guidelines and framework. Prior to this training, I have spent 15 years working with children and young people, in educational and residential settings. I embrace the person centred nature by truly believing my client to be the expert in themselves, and that with the right conditions offered, they have the ability to nurture that desire that is within us to know, understand and like ourselves just a little more.

I am committed to remaining within the Covid guidelines, as set out by the government, as well as taking into account any personal preferences around Covid safety.

As you enter The Bird House, there is hand sanitiser for you to use. If you would like me to wear a mask throughout our session, please let me know when you book. The chairs are a social distance apart and between clients, the chair coverings will be sprayed with antibacterial spray, new water glasses put out, door handles sanitised and windows opened. All chair coverings are removable and will be washed regularly.

Please let me know if you are experiencing any Covid symptoms, if you have been told to isolate or have a positive lateral flow or PCR test result. We can move your face to face appointment to an online one in these instances.
